A while back I had decided to not post anything about politics on social media, nor would I comment on anyone else’s post on social media. But then I slowly began to get drawn in due to the nonsense that I perceived to be reading. And as the political climate got stranger and scarier, I became a bit more, then a lot more, vocal about it all.
That is about to stop.
I am no longer going to post about politics nor comment on anyone else’s posts moving forward.
I will give the usual disclaimer that I have given forever – I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I don’t believe in any one party’s ideologies or unethical and immoral agendas. I am a truth seeker and always have been. I was raised to never accept anyone else’s line of bullshit, and my dad, and the uncles who raised me after he was gone, taught me to see through the smokescreen and not be fooled by the slick misdirection.
I don’t care what political party you belong to. I don’t care what religion you practice. I don’t care what your sexual orientation is. I care about honesty, integrity, and loyalty. I care that someone is a good person…with sympathy and empathy for another human being.
What I have seen is not only a breakdown in the country as a whole, but within my family and friends, within my innermost circles. For the people that know me the best, they know what makes me tick. And I am appalled at what I have been seeing, and I feel disappointed and betrayed.
In recent weeks, someone I looked up to as a kid, unfriended me – and berated me – on Facebook because I condemned the murder of someone who was giving a speech, as was his right. In that same time span, someone who I shared a relationship with, who’s dad was like another father to me, threatened to punch me in the throat because I said that “someone who would allow their young daughter to be alone in a room with Donald Trump should be ashamed of themselves as a father.” I got into a spat with a person who I admire and respect for many years, both professionally and personally, over a debate regarding Jimmy Kimmel’s on air commentary, only to find out that we both felt the same way, just presented it differently – which could have caused tremendous unnecessary discord. And the final blow was one of my dearest friends from childhood commenting on a post of mine, only to get a response from a “family member” that included the picture of a penis. And that is just the tip of the iceberg…not a reference to the penis, BTW.
That being said, I am going to give my take, as brief as can be, on some subject matter, and then I will get back to simply Knocking Around and getting sick over the New York Mets.
Donald J. Trump is a deranged, mentally ill, narcissistic psychopath
Trump has done, and said, everything that a mean-spirited bully would.
As the father of a special needs child, he lost me years ago when he mocked the disabled reporter. As the father of a daughter, he repulses me at the thought of being allowed to be around any young female.
If he is not a fascist, an authoritarian, a dictator, then he is just some old man who has lost his mind – a total whack job.
Donald J. Trump delivered an unhinged and mostly incoherent speech at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service and then a completely, what is more descriptive than “unhinged”?, deranged rambling of nonsense to the United Nations General Assembly.
Did you know that he is the absolute best at everything? Nobody knows more about….just fill in the blank and he knows more about it than anyone.
He has ordered his sycophants to go after any and all of his foes exhibiting overt retribution, exacting REVENGE on anyone who took action against him, or just investigated him, or even TALKED negatively about him. What kind of government “leader” does that? A dictator.
Definition of “dictatorship”: a form of government where absolute power is held by a single person or a small group. The power is often maintained through intimidation, force, or some authoritarian means, resulting in limited political freedoms, the suppression of opposition, and a lack of accountability for the rulers.
Donald Trump has discarded the Constitution, spit on the Rule of Law, and simply run amok enacting whatever he wants. How can he do this? Because everyone around him is afraid of incurring his wrath. Does he have that kind of power? Well, when people have skeletons in their closets, when corporations need a sign-off on a mega-deal, or when someone doesn’t want THEIR political career tarnished, well, Trump knows just how to bring people to their knees. Except for the rest of the sane world…they are all laughing at him and mocking him AND the good old US of A.
Does anyone not see that there is a mentally unstable person sitting in the cat bird’s seat with the title President of the United States? Does anyone not see that he is embarrassing, forget about himself, the nation? Does anyone not see that he is insulting and alienating every leader of the world? Does anyone not recognize that he says things that are either 1) a blatant lie or 2) a grandiose metaphor about himself?
He was somewhat…SOMEWHAT…under control during his first term. However, this time he has surrounded himself with people who are not only NOT QUALIFIED to fill the positions, they are just pure fools…court jesters…running around spouting ridiculous responses to each and every question asked. Just like their leader.
Pete Hegseth, Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, Kash Patel, RFK, Jr., Stephen Miller. They are ALL ass-kissing, brown-nosing idiots. And the WORST is Stephen Miller. This guy is pure nuts. He definitely has some Nazi breeding in his blood. Just listen to him…it’s like he stepped out of a time capsule and is ready to don the SS uniform.
Linda McMahon…she is the EPITOME of the pool that was chosen to make this bodacious all star team of advisors and critical thinkers for the Trump Administration.
It’s truly embarrassing. Even cringe-worthy.
And Karoline Leavitt…my God…the most obnoxious, belligerent, jerk-off I have ever seen. I can’t listen to her speak, just as much as I can’t listen to Trump speak. He picked her why? Because he said, “…look at those lips…” That should tell you just what you need to know.
Does truth matter? Let’s see.
Trump said, “300 million people died from drugs in this country.” Is that even mathematically possible?
Trump said, “We are going to reduce drug prices by 1,500%.” Now that is NOT mathematically possible.
Trump said, “We are building a ballroom that has been wanted for over 150 years.” Who wanted this gold-coated ballroom? (costing tax payers 200 million dollars).
Trump said, “We are going to ensure free speech…” as he sued major broadcast companies and they settled with him for millions in what amounts to a stiff-arm tactic as he threatened to impede their businesses and take their licenses from them. Heck, he took away the funding for PBS because he didn’t like what they were saying about him.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said about the Epstein case, “He was not saying it was a hoax…he was an FBI informant trying to take this stuff down.”
Johnson followed it up with, “What I was referring to in that long conversation was what the (Epstein) victims’ attorney said,” Johnson told reporters. “More than a decade ago, President Trump kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago, and he was one of the only people, one of the only prominent people, as everyone has reported … that he was willing to help law enforcement go after this guy who was a disgusting child abuser, sex trafficker, all the allegations. That’s what they heard. So the president was helpful in that.”
Karoline Leavitt said, “The President wants to see accountability for those who abuse their office and abuse the power of their office.”
Really?
Accountability? Let’s not forget that Donald Trump pardoned EVERYONE who was involved in the January 6, 2021 incident of political violence committed by his supporters on his behalf including those who beat law enforcement officers with baseball bats and lead pipes.
Trump has ignored the Constitution.
Trump has eliminated all of the checks and balances that ensured the balance of power.
Trump had every watchdog agency dismantled.
Trump has weaponized the Department of Justice for no other reason than to persecute any political foe or anyone who openly disagrees with him or calls him out on his bullshit.
Every time someone disagrees with him…FAKE NEWS.
Every time someone calls him out on something…Trump Derangement Syndrome.
There is always some comment or barb to extinguish any truth that may pull back the curtain.
I condemned the murder of Charlie Kirk
My cousin who was, and has been, an activist for as long as I have known her since childhood, unfriended me on Facebook (for the fourth time) because I condemned the murder of Charlie Kirk.
NOBODY deserves to be executed in public while expressing his views and exercising his right to free speech. I will forever stand by that.
What I DON’T stand by, and what I don’t agree with, are his values, and his teachings.
The definition of a patriot is: a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors.
The definition of an activist is: a person who campaigns to bring about social or political change.
The definition of an extremist is: a person who holds extreme or fanatical political or religious views, especially one who resorts to or advocates extreme action.
Which one of those most accurately describes who Charlie Kirk was as a person?
People use the term “grooming” when they talk about the grooming of children. Well, what do you think Charlie Kirk was doing, going around to college campuses and spewing vitriol about issues in a way that riles up the audience – an audience that is highly impressionable, intensely vulnerable, and with virtually no actual education on the facts, the actual facts, of the issues being prophesized.
Charlie Kirk was not a patriot. Patrick Henry was a patriot. Remember him? “Give me liberty or give me death!” Charlie Kirk was NOT expressing words of liberty and freedom and pursuit of happiness. On the contrary, he was promoting suppression and a regression of core values that actually gave him the right to express his extremist views to a group of children who were clamoring for education and a voice.
Charlie Kirk was grooming the youth of America, rallying them in the very same way, dare I say, as the Nazis groomed the Hitler Youth in 1930’s Germany. Very reminiscent of a society depicted in A Handmaid’s Tale.
Again, I condemn the murder of Charlie Kirk and will defend his right to speak about issues, and give his views, regardless of whether or not they align with mine.
I don’t agree with Donald Trump’s way of rule. And I don’t agree with Charlie Kirk’s ideologies. It’s my belief, as a student of history, a seeker of truth, and a passionate thinker who can’t turn off his brain, that if something doesn’t change course, the United States of America will become something out of an old science fiction story – whether it be George Orwell’s 1984, Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone, or Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek (when they travel to a Nazi society) – and after taking so many steps forward, will take that many steps back and more.
This is a scary time for our children and our grandchildren. We have never had to live in a society, a culture, a dynamic such as this, not since the 1820’s and leading up to and including the Civil War. The atmosphere is truly combustible.
That all being said, I don’t want to be at odds with the people I love and care for, regardless of what side of the ledger they may rest. As I have gotten older, I have gotten more sentimental, and I realize there isn’t as much time on this earth as there used to be. And I certainly don’t want to waste any time that’s remaining arguing.
But I will say that if anyone does feel like they would still like to come and punch me in the throat, I wouldn’t advise it. Let’s just leave it at that…like I am leaving politics alone.
